For this post I decided to write about something that’s very high on my list of annoyances about COD4: MW2, and is currently plaguing me in my real life, The Heartbeat Sensor (HBS) weapon attachment. The Heartbeat Sensor is one of the many new features of MW2 and was probably created for people who can’t manage to find the noob tube, akimbo shotguns, or some other low class scheme very effective. Basically, the HBS is an attachment that can be added to any assault rifle, light machine gun, or sniper rifle. Once attached, the Heartbeat Sensor “detects” the heartbeats of their enemies on a small screen that is connected to the weapon. The friendly heartbeats appear as green dots on the screen, while enemy heartbeats appear as red dots. Now this is my first gripe about the HBS, how in God’s name does this device differentiate between good and bad players, all of the dots should appear as the same color, thus making this weapon a lot less cheap. The fact that this weapon is so impractical, and near impossible to exist in real life really grinds my gears.

The first argument that HBS  users make is  for everyone to just use the Ninja perk. The Ninja Perk keeps a player from appearing on any and all Heartbeat Sensors. This is good, however, I do not feel that I should waste my Tier 3 perk slot just so that I can cater to some trashy Heartbeat Sensor user. This attachment should not be used in the first place. In addition to this, most players who are skilless enough to use the HBS will probably also have the Stopping Power Perk or a shotgun as their secondary weapon, therefore even if I do trick your little sensor, the chances of me surviving a one on one battle is slim to none. No thanks, I think I’ll use my Perk 3 slot for something that requires more than just a functioning pair of eyes.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the HBS, the video below should explain it all…
